Many Years of Experience

Garooodi Women Development Association (GWDA) is a nonprofit, non-governmental, public interest organization registered as Local NGO (Reg. No. L.43.13.833.2021 M/J) working for Health development and environmental protection in Somaliland. Founded in October 2016 in Hargeisa, Somaliland by a team of dedicated women, Health, environmental activists and intellectuals who share a common vision of empowered rural communities to restore and protect health for vulnerable people, environment and addressing the existing problems of the environmental misuse, trees cutting, soil erosion, poor water management, less productive land and livestock unitization.

Problem Statement

GWDA principally established for the purposes of addressing to the existing social problems of:

  • Persistent health weakening and absence of improvement efforts
  • Constant Environmental deterioration and Lack of any protection efforts
  • Poor water management and Harnessing Surface Water
  • Lack of proper management of natural resources for self-reliance of rural communities
  • Poor nutrition of the both children and adults from the rural communities

Empowering Communities, Changing Lives

The realization of Sustainable development and undertaking of healthy development, productive and self-sufficient for rural communities, through technical and financial support, the empowerment and mobilization of rural communities through Advocacy and Awareness raising and trainings on environmental protection, water management and increased health quality and the agricultural and livestock products.

The improvement of community health empowerment of rural communities to restore and protect environment and health for the Resilient Rural Communities and maximum utilization from their farms and livestock.
